Louisiana Major Events Incentive Program – Sports Events
Louisiana's flagship incentive for major sports events hosted in the state; provides grants to event organizers, host committees, CVBs, and endorsing municipalities for costs of soliciting, bidding, planning, and hosting qualifying major events; $22M+ fund balance; expanded in 2025 (Act 446) to include ATP/WTA tennis events and require economic impact analysis; $10M awarded for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans; capped at the greater of bid costs or projected economic impact.

Eligibility
Event hosts, local organizing committees, endorsing municipalities or parishes, official tourism commissions, CVBs, or official destination marketing organizations hosting a qualified major event in Louisiana; qualified events include NFL Super Bowl, Olympic activities, NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision Postseason Games, Bayou Classic, PGA Tour events, ATP/WTA tennis events, soccer and rugby events sanctioned by FIFA/World Rugby, and others enumerated in Louisiana law.
Requirements
- Event must qualify as a 'qualified major event' under Louisiana law (R.S. 51:1301 et seq., as amended by 2025 Act 446)
- Application must be submitted at least 180 days prior to the event
- Prior approval of the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget required
