New $10M grant program established by Chapter 73 of the Acts of 2025 to support major sports and entertainment events in Massachusetts; portal opened February 3, 2026; currently funded to support costs related to the 2026 FIFA World Cup (Boston/Foxborough area host city) including public safety, transportation, and celebrations; eligible for major sports events beyond FIFA; applications evaluated on tourism economic impact, national/international media promotion, and geographic equity; no single entity may receive more than 50% of total funds; matching funds required equal to or greater than grant amount.
