About this program
Hart Lift is a City of Hartford storefront activation initiative that helps property owners and brick-and-mortar retail businesses fill vacant storefronts by supporting buildout, tenant improvements, and business opening costs.
Eligibility
Eligible Hartford property owners, tenants, or small businesses filling vacant storefronts and meeting city location, lease, project, and eligible-use requirements.
Requirements
- Apply through city small business or development services process when funding is available
- Provide lease or property documentation, business plan, buildout budget, permits, contractor estimates, and financing plan
- Complete approved improvements and provide payment and opening documentation
