FY25 Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Program

DOJ funding to support state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in investigating and prosecuting hate crimes. Funding may also support hate crime prevention activities including outreach, education, and victim assistance, often delivered in partnership with nonprofit community organizations.

States, units of local government, and federally recognized Indian tribal governments. Nonprofit organizations may serve as partners or subrecipients providing victim services, training, or community education.
