The City of Marietta offers a 100 percent Freeport ad valorem tax exemption for qualifying business inventories. Eligible categories include manufacturers' raw materials and goods in process, finished goods less than 12 months old held by the manufacturer, and finished goods held by distributors, wholesalers, or manufacturers that are destined for out-of-state shipment. The exemption is intended to reduce inventory-related property tax costs for qualifying businesses located in Marietta.

Eligibility

Manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers, and qualifying inventory-holding businesses in Marietta may apply for the Freeport exemption if their inventory meets eligible category requirements.

Requirements

  • Business must have qualifying inventory located in Marietta.
  • Inventory must fit an eligible Freeport category, such as manufacturer's raw materials and goods in process, finished goods held by a manufacturer for less than 12 months, or finished goods destined for out-of-state shipment.
  • Applicant must file required Freeport exemption materials with the appropriate Cobb County tax officials.
