Kentucky Net Metering Program
Kentucky state law requires investor-owned utilities and electric cooperatives (excluding TVA utilities) to offer net metering to consumers with renewable energy systems up to 30 kW. Under Net Metering II (effective January 2025), excess energy is credited at the avoided cost rate.

Eligibility
Kentucky customers of investor-owned utilities or electric cooperatives (not TVA service territories) with a renewable energy system up to 30 kW capacity.
Requirements
- Must be a Kentucky utility customer of an eligible utility (not TVA territory)
- Renewable energy system capacity must be 30 kW or less
- Under Net Metering II (effective January 2025), credits provided at avoided cost rate for exported energy
