Missouri Works Program
Provides Missouri tax credits and withholding benefits to eligible businesses creating jobs and expanding facilities in the state.
About this program
Missouri Works is the state's primary business expansion and retention incentive program, helping eligible companies access capital through retained state withholding taxes or tax credits for facility expansions, equipment purchases, and job creation. The Department of Economic Development establishes base employment, reserves estimated benefits, and verifies that job, wage, investment, and other project thresholds are met before benefits are earned.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include for-profit and nonprofit businesses that create qualifying new jobs in Missouri, meet applicable wage and investment thresholds, and apply before project-specific site work, machinery purchase, or public announcement of new capital investment.
Requirements
- Applicant must be a for-profit or nonprofit business eligible under Missouri Works rules.
- Project must meet the applicable minimum new job, wage, and investment thresholds for its Missouri Works category.
- Applicant must request a proposal or submit a Notice of Intent before significant project-specific site work, machinery purchase, or public announcement of the investment.
