About this program

The Louisiana Research and Development Tax Credit encourages businesses with operating facilities in Louisiana to conduct qualified research and development in the state. The program provides up to a 30% tax credit on qualified research expenditures incurred in Louisiana. The FY 2025-2026 allocation is fully issued, with the FY 2026-2027 allocation beginning July 1, 2026.

Eligibility

Businesses with operating facilities in Louisiana that incur qualified research expenditures in the state may apply for credit certification.

Requirements

  • Business must have qualified research expenditures incurred in Louisiana.
  • Applicant must claim expenditures within one year after December 31 of the year in which the expenditure was incurred.
  • Applicant must apply to Louisiana Economic Development for credit certification before claiming credits.
