Kalamazoo Brownfield Tax Increment Financing
Kalamazoo can reimburse eligible brownfield redevelopment costs through local brownfield tax increment financing.
About this program
The City of Kalamazoo Brownfield Redevelopment Authority supports redevelopment of contaminated, blighted, or distressed properties through Brownfield Plans and tax increment financing. Approved projects can use a portion of new property taxes generated after redevelopment to reimburse qualifying costs for cleanup, site preparation, and returning properties to productive use, with City Commission and BRA approval required.
Eligibility
Developers, businesses, and property owners with eligible brownfield redevelopment projects in the City of Kalamazoo may apply for inclusion in a Brownfield Plan.
Requirements
- Project must be located in the City of Kalamazoo and involve contaminated, blighted, or distressed property conditions.
- Project must create new job opportunities or provide a clear community benefit.
- Applicant must submit project scope, eligible cost estimates, financing plan, and redevelopment information.
