Massachusetts Clean Energy Center grants for clean energy and clean transportation startups developing and demonstrating new technologies.

About this program

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) runs a portfolio of clean tech startup support programs. The Catalyst Award provides up to $75,000 to early-stage researchers and entrepreneurs to demonstrate technical feasibility of new clean energy or climate technologies. The InnovateMass program provides up to $250,000 in milestone-based grants for installation and field testing of new clean energy technologies in Massachusetts. Companies and research teams compete annually, with awards selected by technical merit and commercial promise.

Eligibility

Massachusetts-based startups, university researchers, and small companies. For InnovateMass, projects must demonstrate or install eligible clean energy technology at a Massachusetts site.

Requirements

  • Confirm Massachusetts business location or partner with a Massachusetts host site
  • Monitor MassCEC funding page for open Catalyst or InnovateMass solicitations
  • Submit application with project description, team bios, technical plan, and commercialization plan
