About this program

Athens-Clarke County's Housing and Community Development Department administers Community Development Block Grant funds from HUD for public facility and improvement projects, public service activities, homeless and related programs, and community development activities. CDBG-funded work can include public infrastructure, safe access to low- and moderate-income communities, neighborhood revitalization, rehabilitation of dilapidated commercial buildings and storefronts, and human service capacity through the county's Challenge Grant approach.

Eligibility

Eligible nonprofit organizations, public agencies, community partners, and qualified project sponsors serving Athens-Clarke County residents may apply through the county's CDBG funding process.

Requirements

  • Project must serve Athens-Clarke County residents or eligible low- and moderate-income areas.
  • Activity must meet a HUD CDBG national objective and eligible activity category.
  • Applicant must submit the applicable CDBG application documents, certifications, risk assessment, outcomes forms, and supporting materials.
