Provides reimbursement grants of up to $50,000 for Missouri projects that enhance specialty crop competitiveness.

About this program

The Missouri Department of Agriculture administers USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant Program funding for projects that enhance the competitiveness of Missouri specialty crops in domestic or foreign markets. Eligible projects may support food safety, research, seed variety development, pest and disease control, nutrition education, distribution efficiency, sustainability, marketing, and other industry-wide specialty crop outcomes.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include individuals, producers, nonprofit and for-profit businesses, colleges and universities, agencies, institutions, industry organizations, community-based organizations, and commercial entities if the project benefits the broader specialty crop industry rather than a single organization, institution, or individual.

Requirements

  • Project must enhance the competitiveness of U.S. or Missouri specialty crops in domestic or foreign markets.
  • Eligible specialty crops include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruit, maple syrup, honey, horticulture, nursery crops, and floriculture.
  • Project must benefit the specialty crop industry broadly and not solely provide profit to a single organization, institution, or individual.
