Saint Paul's Business Assistance Fund provides forgivable and amortizing gap financing for eligible businesses and nonprofits citywide.

About this program

The Saint Paul Business Assistance Fund provides financing to new and existing businesses and nonprofit entities that need capital to improve or grow in the City of Saint Paul. The fund can support building improvements, equipment purchases, building acquisition, working capital, inventory, and professional fees, with Tier 1 forgivable loans up to $20,000 for smaller businesses and larger amortizing loans generally between $20,000 and $150,000.

Eligibility

For-profit and nonprofit entities engaged in eligible activities at a physical address in Saint Paul, or relocating to a Saint Paul physical address, may apply.

Requirements

  • Business or nonprofit must be located at or relocating to a physical address in Saint Paul.
  • Funds must be used for eligible costs such as building improvements, equipment, acquisition, working capital, inventory, or professional fees.
  • City financing generally may not exceed 50% of total project cost.
