Montana Apprenticeship Tax Credit for Employers
Montana employers who hire new registered apprentices in skilled trades receive a $750 tax credit per apprentice ($1,500 for veteran apprentices), applicable for the length of the training program up to 5 years. The 2025 legislature expanded apprenticeable occupations to 32 licensed professions.

Eligibility
Montana employers sponsoring new registered apprentices in DOL-registered apprenticeship programs, including construction trades. Expanded in 2025 to include 32 occupationally licensed professions.
Requirements
- Sponsor new registered apprentices through a DOL-registered program
- Tax credit available after apprentice completes probationary period or 6 months (whichever comes first)
- Claim credit on Montana state tax return
