About this program
FSA Microloans offer a streamlined application process and reduced paperwork for small, beginning, niche, and non-traditional farm operations including truck farms, direct-marketing operations (farmers' markets, CSAs, restaurants), hydroponic/aquaponic/organic farms, and vertical growing operations. Microloans come in two types: Operating Microloans (up to $50,000) for general operating expenses, and Farm Ownership Microloans (up to $50,000) for land purchase or improvement. Farmers can hold both for a combined maximum of $100,000. The program serves young, beginning, socially-disadvantaged, and veteran farmers.
Eligibility
Small, beginning, niche, or non-traditional farm operators; some farm experience required (small business experience, internships, and apprenticeships may qualify); meet basic FSA eligibility (unable to obtain commercial credit, U.S. citizen/PR, acceptable credit).
